It was race day again last weekend in Sepang Circuit in MSF Super Turismo Round 2 2022. Due to unforeseen circumstances, one of our female drivers, Sharina Ramlle unable to race over the weekend. Left the team with Fadhlan Hilmi & Aik Sha to race.
#969 Toyota Starlet – Tuner Production
We came back with new engine for #969 after a major mechanical problem in previous round. Upgraded engine with new setup for the car, we aim to finish on podium in Tuner Production category. It’s a tricky qualifying then due to wet track, Fadhlan qualified 5th in class, 12th in group.
Fadhlan managed to squeeze within drivers during the opening lap, putting him in first place in class at T1. Continuing the race fighting with Special Kei car under the same group, by lap 2, Fadhlan already leading the group by merely 10 seconds before being black flag in the 3rd lap.
During pit stop, we discover that the turbo oil return pipe burst. Leaving us with no choice to retire from the race.
#819 Saga – Saga Cup Intermediate
It wasn’t a good day for the #819 this time around. Qualifying under heavy rain, we only managed to qualify 10th in class, 39th in group. With new starting grid format, it is a tough fight for us as there are numbers of cars from different class in between us and our competitor. In the end we finished 22nd in group but drop to 12th position in Intermediate class, due to Saga race format of time bracket.
#619 Jazz – Standard Production
We decide to start our #619 Jazz in this round, to have a fight in Standard Production. It’s a back to back race for Aik Sha, where she needs to race in Jazz right after finishing her race in Saga. Started 5th on the grid, fighting with boys, Aik Sha managed to put her self in 3rd position before a compulsory pit stop.
It was a close fight for top 3 position, Aik Sha managed to move to 2nd place in lap 7 and continue fighting for top spot. Giving it all what she has, she settled in 2nd place with a 3 seconds gap with the race winner.
Unfortunately, we have given time penalty due to failure to meet the minimum pit stop time. We have been demoted to 3rd place in category. It was painful, but overall, we are happy that we still deserved a podium win.
