MERDEKA RACE !

The “Merdeka Race” series at the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF Super Turismo) is one of the main attractions of the entire race series. The 45-minute race with a 3-minute pit stop promises a lot of exciting action.

Asrul Ali’s Honda Civic EF # 636 started the race in the Super 1500 in pole position after scoring the fastest time in the qualifying session. “I started well from the beginning of the race and managed to distance myself from my competitors. However, we encountered some problems during pit stops, and this opportunity was taken by my competitors to intercept me. Despite finishing in third place, I am happy to be able to record my fastest time of 2minit38 seconds which is also the fastest time in the Super 1500 category. ”

After missing the race in the 3rd round, Fadhlan & Azwan’s Toyota Starlet #969 returned on a quest to win the podium. However, not what have been planned doesn’t run well for to #969. According to Fadhlan “We encountered engine problems during the qualifying sessions which were later repaired by the technical team. The team decided to change their strategy due to the inclusion of “Safety Car” in the first lap. I did pit stops earlier and this strategy put me 30 seconds ahead of my competitors. After 15 minutes of racing, the car start losing power and finally I made the decision to stop at Turn 3. The decision was disappointing as we were ahead of the Street Tuned category during the race ”.

For Jazz # 619 racing in the Super Production category, the improvement in record time has improved. Aliff Azreel, who is the team manager, said: “We are still maintaining the specifications of this car and are focusing on improving Azwan’s driving. The results we received were very good because his time record is now fast even without any changes to this Jazz car. ”
