MSF Round 6 – Finale 2019

Final Race 2019: Wet Race!

The last round of the MSF Series Super Turismo, the last chance for every driver and team to strive for the best result. The last chance to be the overall winner, the last chance to do your best. It was a good result for the Estrada by Pulzar Malaysia team. Most interestingly, the last race was the “Wet Race” due to the rain that started at the qualifying session and and become more severe during the race.

After trying several times for car #969, Toyota Starlet found its way to victory. The long wait result finally acheived in the last round. According to Fadhlan “In the qualifying session, #969 only managed one lap of timing before the rain started to fall. Starting in sixth place in the second group, #969 managed to climb to second place in the beginning of the race. This position remained until the 3rd lap before being overtook. There were some mistakes during pit stops, our time in the pit was less than 1 second from the compulsory 3 minutes time. Realizing this error would cost us 5 seconds penalty, we kept trying to distance ourselves. The directions were clear from the pit, and we ended up finishing in 3rd place for over 5 seconds gap with the 4th car. We look forward to this victory! ”

According to Asrul Ali, “ One week to race day the civic EF 636 car had some issues with the gearbox and without much choice I had to race with a standard gearbox. Without expecting much and putting high hope entering the race with stock gearbox nevertheless managed to clock 4th fastest on the grid start in Super1500 class . When race about to commence it was raining cats and dogs and truly has always been my favourite to race in the wet. Managed to close the gap at turn 1 on the 1st lap but I was hit by another competitor at Turn 4 and forced me to drop positions and struggled to climb back to the front. It was challenging to fight back to the front in the wet. Managed to maintained the pace and maintain my position and finished in 4th position which entitles for podium. It was a very challenging year of doing research and development on the Civic EF636. From 2.44 lap time in 2018 and 2.38.26 in 2019 saw lots of dramas lots of work and effort from my technical team which resulting to what it is today. Overall I’m happy and grateful for this achievement and performance outcome from the single cam 1500 engine. Hope for a better 2020 Insha allah.”

Racing in the new category – Saga Cup Intermediate, Sharina Ramlle who drives # 819 has a mission to make up for her mistakes in the previous round. “As I expected, the 6th round was in wet track conditions. There is a bit of a flutter as the risk of racing in the wet race is so high, anything unexpected can happen. Thankfully I was able to reclaim the disappointment of the last round, I finished the race in 4th place in the Intermediate Saga Cup category and the winner of the Saga Cup Ladies category ” said Sharina Ramlle.

For Honda Jazz # 619, the team is happy to have finished the race without any problems. There is a lot to learn from and need to improve to be more competitive in the Super Production category.

The end of the MSF Super Turismo 2019 race season is a new experience for the entire team. Many thanks to all our sponsors, support partners and to all those who have always been so supportive.
