MSF Round 2 2019

Another strong finish by Estrada by Pulzar Malaysia in Malaysia Speed Festival

A mix result from the team during weekend race which saw 2 of our driver finished on podium. Team manager, Aliff Azreel said “It was a challenging and tricky race this round as the race format required a 3 minutes’ compulsory pit stop. However, hats off to all driver especially to our lady driver, Sharina Ramlle who managed to finish on podium, racing in a very challenging condition.”

As usual, the team race started by Asrul Ali #636 in Super 1500 category. With some technical issue encountered during qualifying, he tries to save his car for rectification before the actual race and managed to qualify 3rd in class. Asrul Ali said “I Started the race from 11th position on the grid and managed to clinch 1st position in class in Lap 2 when safety car came out. My mistake in decision making when didn’t pit in early when safety car was deployed. Lost position and finished 4th in class with a new best time clocked 2.41. Overall I’m very happy with the car performance despite having technical issues during qualifying. Thanks to my team crew Estrada Motorsports for your support and my sponsors, and my technical partner JSeventy One Garage.”

Despite strong drive by our duo driver Fadhlan & Azwan in Street Tuned category, at the end group 2 race result was announced null and void due to technical error. Our Toyota Starlet #969 secured 1st position during qualifying and was leading the class during race before the race was red flagged due to major accident. “I feel more comfortable with the car after our practice 2 weeks ago. We were really pushing hard to secure good qualifying grid and I was happy to secure the pole position in class. I managed to create a 7 seconds gap with 2nd position car during first 2 laps before the race was red flagged. During race restart, we still leading in class until the end of race. But it was later announced that result for group 2 race null and void,” said Fadhlan. According to Azwan “When we did our pit stop and driver change, I was told by our team manager that we still leading the class until the chequered flag and should have finished 1st position. However, we leave it to MSF team and race control to resolve on the overall result for the group 2 race”.

Racing at night with heavy rain, non-functioning front wiper and low visibility, the struggle for our lady driver is true. Sharina explained “It was the most challenging race I ever experienced in my life. I started 52nd in Saga Cup Group, 16th in Saga Cup Casual. The visibility was really bad for me, racing in the dark and it was raining. It became worst when my front wiper did not work after my pit stop. At a point, it crosses my mind to just forfeit the race because I lost my confident & I did not want to take any risk. But, Aliff voice was right there at my ears, keep on motivating and guiding me through our radio communication. The only guidance that I have, to know where am I on track was the front car rear lamp and also information given by Aliff. Finishing 3rd place in Saga Cup Casual and Ladies Saga Cup was excellence result for me. Couldn’t ask for more!”

Still under development, our last car in the team, Honda Jazz finished 8th in Super Production class. The team has planned ahead to secure a better position in next round.

With 2 and half months break until next race in July, the technical crew will have ample of time to prepare all the cars. Till then, thank you to all sponsors, partners, driver, crew and all who has supported the team.
